Can I get tyres with a better grip?

The tyres on my recently purchased motorhome have lots of tiny cracks in them. In the wet, front-wheel grip seems virtually non-existent, which makes corners rather frightening. Is there anything I can buy which gives me better grip?

Often motor caravans are fitted with tyres made for long-mileage and robust driving that work at optimum temperature all year. As motor caravans aren’t driven like this, the tyres won’t grip well on wet roads and may be unsafe despite having plenty of tread.
In Northern Europe, light vehicles often have winter-grade tyres, which run warm enough to grip well on wet or cold roads and may be a better option for motor caravans. However, many tyre dealers know little about winter-grade tyres so do some research. And make sure new tyres are at least the equivalent load and speed rating as the previous ones.
