Solar powered road studs get approval

Department for Transport bosses have approved the next generation of solar powered road lights, set to replace cats eyes on UK roads.
SolarLite studs can be seen up to 10 times further away and need replacing less often than traditional cats eyes.
The studs are powered by solar energy absorbing batteries and automatically switch on during darkness.
Trials with the new lighting system demonstrated a 70% reduction in traffic accidents, according to the Transport Research Laboratory.
