Forest Holiday sites are set in the woods
The Forest Store is a shop and cafe for people staying on Forest Holidays sites. Two shops have been opened at Holmsley in the New Forest and Christchurch in the Forest of Dean selling a range of accessories including gas, as well as groceries and other provisions.
The Forest Store ethos embraces using local suppliers wherever possible and recruiting staff from local communities, who know the area and can help in sourcing local produce.
We have sourced local suppliers for all meat, dairy, eggs, handmade cakes and ice creams, preserves, honey, fudges, gifts, some of the breads, hand cooked crisps and even hand-prepared frozen ready-meals. It has been a really enjoyable and rewarding experience meeting local traders and placing the Forest Store business with them, especially because so many of them are small, family-run businesses that are so passionate about their products.
The Forest Store concept also embraces organic and environmentally-conscious items ranging from organic pasta to 100% recycled aluminium foil and Ecover products. All carrier bags are 100% brown recycled paper no plastic bags here.
In tandem with this, Forest Holidays has joined the Green Tourism Business Scheme and the Forest Store will play its part in this through recycling of waste and in the use of recycled materials wherever possible.
Forest Stores will open at other Forest Holiday sites in 2009.
