Swift raise money for Macmillan Cancer

Thanks to the Swift Group, a Cottingham based motorhome and caravan manufacturer, cancer patients in East Yorkshire will benefit this year from over £6000 raised by staff.
Money was raised through a variety of activities including Jeans days, general collections and contributions through staff’s P60s. A cheque for £6309.81 was presented by Peter Smith, Swift Group Chairman, to Macmillan Cancer Support at a recent product launch to dealers at Cave Castle, South Cave near Hull.
Macmillan Cancer Fundraising Manager for Humberside, Robyn Mountain said: ‘The support we have received from Swift over the years is simply amazing.
‘This money will make a real difference to local people affected by cancer. Examples, such as this, illustrate that you do not have to be a nurse to help people living with cancer.’
Swift Group Marketing Director Richard White said: ‘Swift has been raising money for Macmillan since 1995 and this latest donation brings the total to over £50,000. The staff has made a fantastic effort this year and we are delighted with the amount raised.’
The money will be distributed via the charity’s ‘Macmillan Grants’ initiative, which aims to ease the financial worries of those affected by cancer and assists with a wide range of practical needs.
Grants help to ease the costs of cancer patient’s everyday lives with heating bills, travel to and from hospital, washing machines and other household items. Grants are also provided to help people with cancer continue with activities they enjoy, such as swimming.
Each week Macmillan Cancer makes a difference to the lives of hundreds of people affected by cancer, by providing them with a grant. Sometimes more than one grant is given to a person if they have a number of needs or if their circumstances and needs change.
