SeaFrance Dover-Calais has announced that the SeaFrance Molière, the longest ferry on the Dover to Calais route, will come into service on 22 July. Initially planned for 3 July, the new arrival’s launch has been rescheduled.
Formerly known as the Jean Nicoli, the SeaFrance Molière was acquired by the French cross-Channel ferry operator in April, and has been undergoing a refit at the shipyards in Dunkirk since that date.
SeaFrance Managing Director, Robin Wilkins commented: ‘SeaFrance has invested €15 million in the refit, during which the new ship has been adapted to the requirements of the Short Sea route.
‘We have additionally redesigned her interior to the high quality specification reflected in our other two superferries, the SeaFrance Berlioz and the SeaFrance Rodin. The SeaFrance Molière will offer two bars, two restaurants, a boutique and dedicated professional drivers’ facilities for freight and tourism.
‘Tourism customers who have made reservations on the SeaFrance Molière will all be personally informed of any schedule change.’
The launch of SeaFrance Molière means that from 22 July 2008, all SeaFrance tourism crossings will be aboard superferries and the SeaFrance fleet will consist of
- SeaFrance Molière: 1200 passengers, 110 trucks or 480 cars
- SeaFrance Berlioz: 1900 passengers, 120 trucks or 700 cars
- SeaFrance Rodin: 1900 passengers, 120 trucks or 700 cars
- SeaFrance Nord-Pas de Calais: 100 passengers, 85 trucks
