Here are 5 great tips for saving money on the road
Find the cheapest diesel prices in your area at petrol-prices.com. Five minutes at the computer can save up to 12p per litre.
Many of the ‘we search everywhere for the cheapest insurance deal’ websites are owned by insurance companies, so search all the websites for the best deal. You can find savings of up to 33 per cent. When you find the cheapest deal go back to your existing insurer and see if they can meet or beat it.
Top boxes seriously damage fuel consumption so take them off when you aren’t using them.
Tyres under-inflated by as little as 10 per cent (that could be as little as 3.6psi) can increase fuel consumption by as much as 10 per cent.
Don’t warm up the engine after you’ve started it because you’ll waste fuel. Vehicle manufacturers say you should drive off as soon as you can.
