Long hot summer forecast for the UK

Great news, at last! Motor caravanners finally have a reason to celebrate the not-so-great British weather as Met Office experts have forecast a hot, dry summer – perfect for hitting the road and enjoying the natural beauty of the countryside.
In contrast to the last two summers, where unseasonable rain wrecked the plans of UK holidaymakers, this year is predicted to be hot and dry with “near or below average rainfall”.
Last August was the fifth wettest since records began and brought 40% less sun than on an average year. Thankfully, the Met Office’s chief meteorologist, Ewen McCallum, said that a repeat wasn’t likely this year: "After two disappointingly wet summers the signs are much more promising this year," he said.
Although government services director Rob Varley warned that long-term forecasts aren’t a foolproof means of planning a summer holiday or an outdoor event, the indications are that this year you’ll finally get the chance to hit the road and leave your brolly at home.
